PHOTOBLOG 4: April 2022

A slightly shorter one this month as I am just about to head off on the ferry to Roscoff to begin the cycle down to Spain. That trip will be covered in a longer blog at the end of May.

Some Video!?!

Hopefully I can start integrating some of my film work into this blog if it becomes a bit more frequent. This is a short montage I captured for the Make 2nds Count charity ball in Edinburgh and thought I would start of this months blog with something a bit different...

PART I: CORNWALL

Having finished my final year at University in the beginning of April - because apparently £9250 is only enough for 7 months of the year- I headed down to Cornwall to catch some surf and see the family over the Easter holidays. I had not been down since summer and it was great to be back and making the most of the Easter swells.

Of course, the person I was most excited to see was Raffy, who sadly seemed a lot older than when I last saw her, now at the fine age of 13!

PART II:

Easter weekend itself was spent with another indulgent trip to Spain. This time we were heading to Altea, a beautiful traditional Mediterranean town set on a hillside looking over the coast.

Having packed only a very small bag I had to limit myself to one lens, my new 55mm 1.8. Whilst I definitely wanted something a bit wider at times, I was thankful for this lens when it came to taking portraits, and being a couples trip where only one of you takes photos, there was a certain consistency in the subject matter.

The Mediterranean, whilst sadly not being the place for surfing, was certainly a bit more inviting the the North Sea up in Edinburgh and was still significantly warmer than the Cornish Atlantic where I had been at the start of the week.

On our second day we rented a boat and had an explore of the hidden coves around the coast. Thankfully, in spite of Leti's eyesight being only slightly better than mine, we didn't hit anything.

That's it for this one, thanks for reading! I have charged up the camera, bought three rolls of Kodak Gold and have around 180GB of SD cards to fill over the next month travelling through France and Spain so look out for May's edition of the cycle trip! As ever, send me an email or a message if you are interested in collaborations, prints or any photography/ videography work (the student loan is drying up and I need to get back to work to fund these trips!)

See you soon!

Rory
